By now, most know that the German Shepherd is credited to Max von Stephanitz. But, at some point, two lines within the breed developed. These lines are show lines and working lines. The American Show lines have a slanted back and their back legs have a different length, generally. You can see show lines every year at the Westminster Dog Show. These dogs are bred for appearance and to be pets; breeding does not necessarily conform to breed standards. The working lines tend to be smaller, tend to have a straight back, and their back legs are proportional to their body; they also have an intense work ethic, strength, and intense energy. These characteristics make them well suited to be sport dogs, K9s, used in the military, and other work. Breeding regulations are established by the SV in Germany and only German Shepherds that meet these standards are intended for breeding. AKC registration is not enough.

We take great care in matching a dog with a potential owner but It's important to understand and accept that lots of factors play a role in how a dog develops, including the experiences and environment a dog owner provides. All dogs/puppies placed with an owner are done so by contract.
We are not professional dog trainers but have established relationships with a number of well recognized professional trainers. We are pleased to recommend professional trainers and supplements. Email vsbyerly@gmail.com
